Football, VocalEssence, homework, work work, running, now swim team. The blog has been suffering. I miss it. I'm going to try to do a better job of updating things here.

Why not? Gary has been honing his Indian curry skills and whipped this up this morning for our lunches at work. I couldn't resist eating a dose for breakfast, too.

Song stylin

Here you see a sneaky little picture of Hank, on the way home from football practice, rocking out to a Taylor Swift song. He knew all the words to this one and the Britney Spears song that followed it. We will try to find a good way to embarrass him with this story when he's older.

Hank said it

You know how sometimes you get attached to your teacher?

I don't see that happening this year.

The word "harsh" sounds pretty cute coming out of a mouth missing the front teeth. As in: "My new teacher only gets a little bit harsh when someone's bad." The word "teacher" sounds cute, too.

Back to school

I was excited for Hope's friend, whose mom decided to shave a few hours off of her day by dropping her daughter off at Hope's bus stop instead of driving her to school like she did last year. I assured my friend that her daughter would love Chuck The Bus Driver as much as everyone else has for the last two years. I don't think bus drivers get much better than him. He stopped by our house last summer and again this year to let me know he was going to get to drive the same route. It's pretty cute -- jolly Chuck and the gaggle of kids he drives to Chinese school. I was curious how my friend's daughter felt about her first day taking the bus. I received the following text message from her yesterday evening:
So...I understand Chuck sings &
does magic tricks with his teeth. Neat.
Gonna be another good year on the bus. :-P
