Performance art

Most Inspired Performance Art Award goes to Tall Dog's president, Lee, who recruited a banjo-player/cyclist to follow him to the nearest cornfield and accompany him with Foggy Mountain Breakdown while he peed in the cornfield. It was spectacularly surreal. Check back here in a few days for a G-rated picture.

A Des Moines Register columnist coined the phrase "rolling circus" to describe RAGBRAI to people who haven't ridden it. And that's exactly what it is.

Back to the bike...

  1. Oh my god, I'm so glad your not dead.

Keep up the good work. I posted a shout-out to you and Gary on the main ragbri web page, look for it...they said they post them to you. Is this true?

Thinking of you on your journey!

Here's a link to a DSM Register article mentioning the banjo playing incident:

  3. Actually the cornfield incident inspired me to do some kind of take-off on "Where's Waldo" for the rest of the ride. I called it "Find the Banjo Dude", where I would find some odd place in each town to play, and wait until someone found me. I played under trucks, in railroad cars, on bridges, and even on a few roofs! I played until someone stopped and took a picture. (Hey, by the way, anyone reading this have a picture of me playing someplace like that, please send it to me via the corporate offices: Thanks a whole bunch!
