Life

The 17th was a difficult day. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful, thoughtful, creative, and hard-working son such as Hank. He turned 11 on the 17th. Hank is the person who changed my life for the better in so many ways. I love you, Hank. You are an amazing person.

The happiness of Hank's birthday was tempered by the death of my student's big brother, Cameron, who was merely 19 years old. He was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer only months ago and now gone. The reality of mortality is difficult to face. The pain his mother feels, I can't begin to imagine. His little brother? I don't know.

All I know for sure are the two sentiments from the article posted two days ago: "...This has taught me to be happy to be alive... and life is painful."

Thank you for your prayers for the Berhow family.
